Bio;

The history of Doulton Burslem ceramics is a fascinating journey through craftsmanship and innovation. The company began in 1815 as Jones, Watts & Doulton in Lambeth, London, producing utilitarian stoneware. By the mid-19th century, under the leadership of Henry Doulton, the company expanded into decorative pottery and sanitary ware.

In 1877, Doulton acquired a factory in Burslem, Staffordshire, which became the hub for producing fine bone china and artistic pottery. This move marked a shift towards creating high-quality decorative items, including figurines, vases, and tableware. The Burslem factory gained prominence for its innovative designs and collaborations with talented artists like Charles Noke, who later became the Art Director.

In 1901, the company received the Royal Warrant from King Edward VII, allowing it to use the title "Royal Doulton." This recognition solidified its reputation as a leading producer of fine ceramics.
