A fine porcelain portrait bust of the Duke of Wellington made in parian porcelain by Joseph Pitts Coalport c1852.
The bust depicts Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington (1769–1852), a prominent Anglo-Irish soldier and statesman known for defeating Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo. The model was created by the sculptor Joseph Pitts, and the reverse is inscribed with "JOSH PITTS SC LONDON 1852". The piece was manufactured John Rose & Co., later known as Coalport.
Measures 9" or 23cm height.
Inspection found the piece to be in very good condition with no chips cracks or restoration.
