Bio;
Coalport porcelain has a rich history rooted in the late 18th century. It was founded by John Rose in 1795 in Coalport, Shropshire, England. The factory became renowned for its high-quality porcelain, often referred to as "Coalbrookdale porcelain." Early pieces were inspired by Chinese and European designs, featuring intricate patterns and vibrant colors.
Coalport was a pioneer in porcelain innovation, introducing lead-free glazes and unique patterns like the "Indian Tree," which became iconic. By the 19th century, the factory was producing elaborate dinner services and decorative items, some of which were commissioned by royalty, including Queen Victoria.
The factory's location near the Coalport Canal and River Severn made it a hub for trade and creativity. Today, Coalport porcelain remains highly collectible, with its pieces celebrated for their craftsmanship and historical significance.
