A beautiful antique pair of vases made by Coalbrookedale c1840. They are in excellent condition for the age. The vases are extremely well made with lots of floral embellishment and handpainted landscape scenes in cartouche panels. The vases are slightly different height with approx 1cm height variation.
- Manufacturer: The pieces were produced by the Coalport factory (founded by John Rose in 1795) and sold under the name "Coalbrookdale porcelain,".
- Material and Decoration: They are made from porcelain and feature elaborate overglaze decoration, extensive gilding, and the signature applied (encrusted) flowers, vines, and leaves.
- Period: A most highly sought-after example dating from the early to mid-19th century, in the Rococo Revival styles popular around the 1830s-1840s.
- Markings: No makers stamp, but early Coalport/Coalbrookdale pieces are often unmarked.
- Condition: Due to the delicate nature of the encrusted flowers, some minor chips to the petals are found common and expected in antique pieces. There is some minor gilt rubbing but no chips cracks or restoration to the vases.
- Measurements: Tallest vase 11 & 1/2" or 29cm height Shorter vase 11 & 1/4" or 28.5cm height
