2 Antique Meissen Plates Osier Border Hand Painted Flowers Gold Gilded

A pair of Meissen plates with osier or basket weave raised border, gold gilt and with hand applied floral decoration.

An osier border is a decorative pattern often found on porcelain, particularly Meissen porcelain. It features a basket-weave design in delicate relief, inspired by the flexible shoots of the common osier (Salix viminalis), a type of willow. This pattern was first introduced in the 1730s and was widely used on various pieces of flatware

No chips, cracks or restoration. 
Inspection found some wear on the rim gilding on both plates. This can be inspected in the images provided.

The blue crossed swords mark underside has one strike indicating the decoration was outside of the factory. The porcelain is made by Meissen. The floral decoration is very beautiful and would have been done by a skilled ceramic artist.
