A superb pair of vases by Franz Welz with red and milk white inclusions that form a tortoiseshell effect into streaks that flow up the stem. The pieces are gilt with gold and have enamel floral decoration to the body. They are hand blown Victorian studio pieces from the 19thc.
Measures 6 & 1/4" or 16cm height.
The condition is excellent with no chips cracks or restoration.
Bio;
Franz Welz was a Bohemian glass manufacturer known for producing artistic glassware in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The company originated in 1728, founded by the Kopp family, but Welz became involved in 1794 when Vaclav Welz married Marie Anna Kopp.
Welz glass is famous for its vibrant colors and intricate patterns, including spatter glass, tango glass, and striped designs. The factory, known as Antonienhütte, operated until the 1930s
