A fine quality pair of 18th-century masonic firing glasses. Each glass has a round funnel bowl with a set of tools engraved around the bowl. Thick plain stem above a thick firing foot.
Bio;
Early Masonic firing glasses from the 18th century are fascinating artifacts, often engraved with Masonic symbols like the square and compass, plumb lines, or inscriptions such as "Prosperity to Masonry". These glasses were used during Masonic ceremonies and toasts, where the thick firing foot allowed them to be slammed on the table, mimicking the sound of musket fire
Origin England, c1760. Period of George III
