c1840 Antique John Ridgway #8579 Gold Gilt Porcelain Dessert Service

An attractive dessert service by John Ridgway made in c1840’s. Each piece has pierced border with thickly applied gold gilt in the ‘burton’ shape.  It is in the Rococo Revival style which was popular during the period.

There is a cobalt & yellow border, floral garlands and decorations embellished with real gold gilt. 

Plates measure
9 & 1/4" or 23.5cm’s in diameter


Condition: Overall inspection found the set to be in excellent condition. Just one round comport has four rim hairline cracks and one plate has a faint hairline to underside. No other chips, cracks, restoration or crazing.
There are some light signs of use / cutlery marks. Some wear to the gilt on the rim and central motif on some pieces.
