Antique French Patriotic Military Mirror Latin Motto ~ Peace & War Prepare c1870

Ornate military patriotic mirror cast in metal with decorative moulded female allegorical figures. Made c1870 to 1880 France.  Has inscription in latin, military symbolism, laurel, star, sheilds, and mottos. The ribbon and bow on the front are typical of French ebenistes / iron founders. The back casting voids and vent holes match French industrial moulds. This is likely made by Val d Osne Paris.

Latin motto translates;

"Pacem Para Bellum"~ If you desire/seek Peace Prepare for War 

"Pro Patria"(for the homeland/Nation/Country)

for ones country( homeland / nation) A sentiment used in France widely during the 19thc to express national pride and duty.

This is an incredible piece and very weighty.

Condition~ Inspection found the mirror in very good condition with some antique wear consistent with age.
