The Bow Porcelain Factory, established around 1747, was one of the first porcelain factories in England, alongside the Chelsea Porcelain Factory. Located in the Bow area of East London, it was originally set up near Bow but later moved to "New Canton" near the River Lea.

Bow porcelain is known for its soft-paste porcelain, which included bone ash in its composition. This gave the porcelain a warm, creamy, and glassy appearance with an ivory glaze. The factory produced a wide range of items, including tableware, figurines, and decorative pieces. Designs often imitated imported Chinese and Japanese porcelains, as well as the wares produced at Chelsea and Meissen.

The factory was highly productive, employing over 300 people at its peak, including 90 painters. Bow porcelain was known for its distinctive colours, such as green and crimson-purple, and its intricate designs, including botanical patterns and Kakiemon-style decorations.

Despite its success, the quality of Bow porcelain declined after 1760, and the factory eventually closed around 1776. However, the use of bone ash in porcelain continued and evolved into what is now known as English bone china.
