Davenport Pottery was an English earthenware and porcelain manufacturer based in Longport, Staffordshire. It was in business from 1794 to 1887, initially run by the Davenport family. Here are some key points about Davenport Pottery:

  • Founder: John Davenport began as a potter in 1785 and acquired his own pottery at Longport in 1794.

  • Products: They produced a variety of tablewares, including cream-colored blue and white transfer-printed earthenware, porcelain, and stone china.

  • Royal Patronage: By 1806, the quality of their porcelain was recognized by royalty, with the Prince of Wales (later King George IV) ordering services from them.

  • Family Legacy: After John Davenport retired in 1830, his sons William and Henry took over, and later William's sons continued the business until it was acquired by Burleigh Pottery in 1887.

Davenport Pottery is known for its high-quality craftsmanship and beautiful designs, making it a sought-after collectible today.
