A set of three plates that are in very good antique condition.

They are decorated in famille rose colour. Famille Rose, or "fencai," refers to a type of Chinese porcelain that features delicate, opaque enamels in a predominantly pink palette, introduced in the early Qing dynasty.

Decorations on the plates feature elaborate scenes, and "The Romance of the Western Chamber" (Xi Xiang Ji)  one of China's most famous love stories, penned during the Yuan dynasty by Wang Shifu. This tale of a secret love affair between Zhang Sheng, a young scholar, and Cui Yingying, a beautiful maiden, which has inspired countless artworks and ceramics.

The intricate designs and vibrant colours typical of Famille Rose porcelain bring these romantic scenes to life, making each plate not just a functional item but a storytelling masterpiece.

The condition of the plates is very good. Inspection notes have been made for each plate as follows:

Plate one ; Is in very good condition. There is no chips cracks or restoration. The is some crazing line to the centre of the plate which is in the enamel and does not penetrate the porcelain. A very good condition piece all hand painted with individual details that compliment the other two plates but with small variations in the composition and the colour. These are subtle and can be seen if you carefully compare the image of the three plates together to see these unique variations that are quite beautiful.

The reverse of the plate is plain decoration and has three kiln points that are protrude from the centre slightly. The footrim has some rough texture to the glaze but this is an original flaw not a damage.

Plate Two; This plate is in very good condition. there is not any chips that can be seen . There are two flea bite losses to the enamel glaze on the rim reverse side. There is some wear to the brown / orange colour that decorates the edge of the rim. The reverse is decorated with three fruits and there are three kiln points that protrude from the center of the plate. The foot rim is unglazed and has some ground in dirt but no chips or cracks. A good condition plate overall.

Plate Three. This plates is in very good condition overall. There is not any notable chips. There is a very small unglazed area on the green border which appears an original mishap. The plate has a hairline about 1" on the rim which is shown in an image with a pointer. The back footrim is unglazed and there are 2 raised pontils in the central area of the reverse side. There are some small paint marks, and very minor original kiln marks that are all from manufacture or age related. The plate is otherwise very good condition.

As with all antiques and vintage items there will be small signs of age or wear that are to be expected.
